Let’s look at Ephesians 3:14-15. It reads like this: “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for Whom every family (the underline is my addition)in heaven and on earth is named.”
There is something about the family that is so significant to the Father. Everything in God’s Kingdom reflects the family structure. It is about loving each other and about doing life together. It is interesting that when Jesus was asked what the most important commandments are, He answers the first and second: Love the Lord God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself. I am sensing that the Father wants to make a shift in all of us so that we are an expression of both the first and the second. It is this place of loving Jesus together and then expressing Him in community that we are building the family of God. Doesn’t the word say that “they will know us by our love?”
Love is the greatest of all….Love for the Father and love for one another. God has always been about building the family…after all He calls Himself the Father and He has a Son. Scripture says that we are His children adopted into the Kingdom through the blood of Jesus Christ.
I believe that the fullness of God is expressed as both of these commandments are working together. Wouldn’t that be amazing to see the church begin to function in her fullness? My challenge to you this year is to begin creating a family structure both with your own immediate family and then extend out to those around you. Spend time enjoying life and people ...spend time having fun with one another. As you study the Gospels, you will see that Jesus enjoyed life. He went from house to house and walked the streets and just enjoyed people…He healed them, set them free and loved them in the midst of their need. julaine & team
